You, Me and the Apocalypse (2015-) TV series

A refreshing British comedy with very dark moments (violent murders) in which a group of related and unrelated misfits come together in a bunker in Slough, England, to wait out the impact of a comet/asteroid. This TV series premiered in the UK in September 2015 and in North America in January 2016. In addition to being set in Slough, other locations include Rome, Italy, and New Mexico, USA.

The Last Man on Earth (2015-) TV series

Given time, all things are possibly in TV-land, including a romantic comedy of post-apocalyptic proportions. Starring Will Forte as Phil Miller, who believes himself to be the last human on the planet after a virus epidemic, The Last Man on Earth is a promising and fresh comedy that debuted on the Fox Network on March 1, 2015.

The Walking Dead (2010) TV series

America overrun by zombies?! A TV series!? Talk about an original doomsday scenario. But zombies are hot right now in 2010, so watch for this new TV show The Walking Dead set to premiere on ... Halloween (October 31) 2010 on AMC. The series is based on Robert Kirkman's comic book series of the same name.

February 24, 2015 Update: The show is still in production and is one of the most watched shows on TV. As I tell people, it's not about the zombies, as gruesome as they are and the endless re-deaths they go through at the hands of the survivors, rather the show is about a small band of survivors led by a sheriff named Rick Grimes. At the time of this writing his wife, who had survived, is long dead and he, along with his group whom he calls his family, and his young son are caring for their baby girl.

Dollhouse TV series finale (January 29, 2010)

In the Dollhouse TV series finale broadcast on January 29, 2010, the heroes are living in or have copied themselves into the nightmarish world of 2020 after something they did created zombies out of much of the world's population. At the end of the show the world's set right though the apocalyptic devastation remained.

Terminator movies (1984-2009) and TV series (2008-2009)

The Terminator movie and TV series are among the most powerful, post-apocalyptic dramas ever created. The basic premise is an age-old science fiction theme, that of sentient or intelligent machines that decide to eliminate humanity. The first three movies starred California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as the unstoppable Terminator robot sent back to kill a single human in order to effect a change in the future. He also made a digital cameo appearance in the 2009 Terminator movie. The first three Terminator movie were co-written and directed by James Cameron and made him a major player in Hollywood.

Jericho (2006-2008) TV series

The Jericho (2006-2008) TV series was not quite the end of the world but it was the end of life as you know it in the United States, which was subjected to devastating nuclear attacks by unknown forces. Skeet Ulrich starred in this unusual drama in which survivors in a Kansas town came to grips with life after the nuclear apocalypse. Somehow the weather conditions never seemed to turn against them, which was the most unbelievable part.
